State-of-the-Art Concussion Center

During the almost 15 years that the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program has been treating patients, it has expanded services to meet the complexities of concussion treatment.

In January 2012, we moved into a second-floor wing at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex in the South Side neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pa.

UPMC Sport Medicine Concussion Center ​In 2012, the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program moved to a newly constructed wing of the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.

​Pioneered by experts at the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion Program, the ImPACT™ is the most widely used and scientifically accepted tool in the United States for comprehensive clinical concussion management.​
Anne Mucha, PhD, conducts ocular testing on a patient who sustained a concussion. Neurovestibular rehabilitation can be part of the concussion recovery program.
Exertion therapist Cara Troutman-Enseki, DPT, works with a hockey player recovering from a concussion. Athletes receive sport-specific exertional therapy as part of their concussion treatment and rehabilitation program.​
