While there's no cure for HIV, effective treatment lets people live full and productive lives.

The Altoona Intervention Project (AIP) helps those living with HIV and promotes preventing the spread of the disease. 

We serve people throughout Bedford, Blair, Fulton, and Huntingdon counties.

HIV Services at AIP

AIP promotes preventing the spread of HIV and provides case management services for those with HIV.

Our services include:

• Virtual care visits with an infectious disease expert.
• Rapid HIV and Hepatitis C testing at no cost.
• Financial help.
• Support groups.
• Ridesharing or gas cards for appointments.
• Nutrition therapy from a registered dietitian.

Should I Get Tested for HIV?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests all people between 13 and 64 get HIV testing once in their lifetime. We especially urge testing for anyone at risk for HIV infection.

About The Altoona Intervention Project

  The AIP:

• Is one of Pennsylvania’s oldest HIV service providers, founded in 1986.
• Is part of UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside in Pittsburgh.
• Also offers HIV prevention, education, and outreach programs for schools, community groups, and high-risk persons. Contact us to request literature on HIV.
