For more than 60 years, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic has been a national leader in providing research-based care and treatment of mental health and addictive disorders. As part of UPMC, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic provides a comprehensive range of behavioral health services for individuals, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, who are at every stage in their recovery.
The UPMC Behavioral Health network includes the services provided at the flagship hospital, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, located in Oakland, Pennsylvania, as well as at four other UPMC hospitals and at more than 50 locations throughout western Pennsylvania.

UPMC Programs Awarded by Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania
Each year, the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) awards innovative programs across the state for their innovation in health care. This year, 18 programs were recognized, four of which are UPMC programs. Our colleagues’ efforts regarding concussion testing in youth, the provision of community-based crisis services, the identification and treatment of bipolar disorder, and the prevention of hospital-acquired infections like Clostridium difficile earned this statewide distinction.
