The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Developmental Follow-up Clinic extends the care your baby received in the NICU by:
Although children typically have one follow-up every six months until the age of two, the frequency of visits is determined by the needs of each child. Because babies born early, sick, or small may be at risk for developmental delays, it’s important to always take note of your child’s development.
If you have concerns that your child is not meeting age-appropriate milestones, you can set up an earlier appointment by calling 814-877-8200.
All NICU babies are referred to Early Intervention, a free community service. Early Intervention specialists will examine your child for learning needs. They will call you to set up the first visit.
More information about Early Intervention will be provided at a later date if needed.
For any other questions or concerns, please ask the NICU doctors or nurses, or call them at 814-877-8200.
