As the region’s leading health care provider, we’re passionate about giving back to the communities we serve. Each year, UPMC contributes nearly $2 billion to strengthen the health and well-being of our neighborhoods by:
- Committing more to charity care than any other health system in Pennsylvania.
- Enhancing health and wellness through 3,000-plus free and subsidized programs including, support for seniors, veterans’ programs, access to healthy foods, and more.
- Sponsoring 98 percent of all hospital-funded research in western Pennsylvania.

Community Spotlight: Making a Difference in McKeesport
Our commitment to the McKeesport, Pa., community extends far beyond providing world-class patient care:
- The UPMC Scholars Program provides tuition loans to local students. The loans cover the cost of a registered nurse (RN) education, scholarships, and a three-year work opportunity at UPMC McKeesport.
- In 2023, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania opened The Club Teen Center in McKeesport in partnership with UPMC. The center provides teenagers with career coaching, mental health services, and academic support.
- UPMC McKeesport also sponsors McKeesport’s annual community day, which includes fun activities, live entertainment, and health screenings.
