Dr. William Diefenbach is a neurosurgeon at UPMC Hamot’s Great Lakes Neurosurgery and Neurointervention. He specializes in General neurosurgery and consults on patients with brain tumors, degenerative spinal conditions, as well as treats patients with traumatic brain and spinal injuries. He has a special interest in treating patients with chronic pain from prior spinal surgery, neuropathy, or complex regional pain syndrome with neuromodulation therapy.

Dr. Diefenbach received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his neurosurgery residency from Columbia- Presbyterian Hospital Neurological Institute in New York City, and is board-certified in neurological surgery.

Dr. Diefenbach provides over 30 years of experience and also served in the military where he was deployed to Iraq and Germany to treat soldiers who suffered neurological damage in Iraq and Afghanistan.
