A board-certified cardiac and thoracic surgeon, Dr. Lazar’s clinical interests include extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), robotic cardiac and thoracic surgery including cardiac bypass and lung cancer resections, minimally invasive surgical approaches for heart and lung disease, mitral valve repair, aortic valve surgery and repair of thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissections. He joined the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in 2013.

 

He received his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School, and completed his surgical residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson (Rutgers), followed by a cardiac and thoracic surgery fellowship at Penn State Hershey. He received his master’s in health care administration from King’s College. Dr. Lazar is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
