Description

Dr. Soman joined UPMC in 2005 and practices clinical cardiology, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography, with a focus on cardiac amyloidosis and the noninvasive diagnosis and risk stratification of heart disease. He is the founder-director of the Cardiac Amyloidosis Center at UPMC, which has robust clinical and research operations.

He received his initial medical training at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education in India. He earned his Ph.D. at the Northwick Park Hospital and Institute for Medical Research in the UK. He completed fellowships in cardiology and cardiac imaging at Tufts Medical Center.

Dr. Soman is an associate editor of Circulation CV Imaging and a past associate editor of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Soman has held many national and international leadership positions including president of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology in 2018, chair of the American College of Cardiology Imaging Council, president of the Cardiovascular Council of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, and chair of the International Congress of Nuclear Cardiology. He also has co-authored 132 publications including original research, guidelines and textbook chapters.
