Susan Greenspan, MD


Susan Greenspan, MD, is an internationally respected osteoporosis researcher whose specialties are the effects of osteoporosis in elderly women, and the creation of new techniques to assess bone density and rate of bone loss.

At UPMC she is director of the Osteoporosis Prevention and Treatment Center and the Bone Health Program, and associate program director of our General Clinical Research Centers (GCRC). Dr. Greenspan is very interested in educating the community and other physicians about osteoporosis.

While in Boston (where she was director of Osteoporosis Prevention and Treatment Center, director of the Bone Density Testing Center and program director of the GCRC -- all at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School) she initiated Osteoporosis Week as a means of increasing public awareness about the disease.
