WHAT: UPMC St. Margaret is giving a free presentation on common sleep disorders and the ways they affect your body. Craig G. Viti, M.D., medical director of the Center for Sleep Disorders at UPMC St. Margaret, will discuss signs, symptoms, diagnoses and treatments for sleep disorders and detail the essential role sleep plays in a person’s overall health. Viti will share helpful tips for getting a good night’s sleep while hospital staff provide blood pressure and bone density screenings and risk assessments for sleep apnea.
A free hot meal will be served, and parking will be validated.

WHY: Chronic sleep loss can result in lower productivity, increased risk of accidents and a variety of major health issues including diabetes, obesity, heart attacks and even some forms of cancer. Improving sleep quality can not only reduce the risk of developing a medical condition, but it can improve the overall quality of life for those struggling to feel well rested.
