PITTSBURGH – UPMC St. Margaret has opened a newly renovated and expanded urology clinic, located at 100 Delafield Rd., Suite 312, which now offers two new diagnostic procedures: transperineal prostate biopsies and prostate MRI (magnetic resonance imaging).
The new service advancements underscore UPMC St. Margaret’s dedication to disease prevention and community-wide healthy living, key priorities identified in the hospital’s Community Health Needs Assessment, during Men’s Health Month and beyond.
“A significant part of our mission at UPMC is to provide our communities with new options for advanced care, and the addition of these services represents our commitment to bringing state-of-the-art urologic services closer to home,” said Andrew Ritchie, vice president, UPMC Health Services Division, and president of UPMC St. Margaret. “We’re thrilled to offer cutting-edge care in a new space that not only supports our outstanding staff but also provides patients with greater convenience and access.”
Expanded urology clinic and services
The new space consolidates two offices into a single location, offering exam and procedure rooms, lab space and scheduling areas — all designed to enhance the patient experience and support a cohesive work environment for care teams.
The clinic offers a wide scope of urologic services, including elective sterilization (vasectomy), robotic urologic surgery, and treatment of urinary symptoms, enlarged prostate, erectile dysfunction, kidney stones and urologic cancers, including bladder, prostate, kidney and testis cancer.
Enhanced early detection diagnostics
“We are proud to set the standard for urologic care in our community with two new advanced diagnostic services,” said Robert Turner, M.D., urologic oncology, UPMC St. Margaret. “Transperineal biopsies and prostate MRIs are important in detecting prostate cancer early and reliably.”
Transperineal biopsies are a safer, potentially more effective alternative to traditional transrectal biopsies. Performed in-office with local anesthesia, this approach reduces the risk of infection and improves diagnostic accuracy.

Previously available only at select UPMC sites, prostate MRI is a powerful imaging tool that provides detailed views of the prostate and surrounding tissues. This scan allows patients to receive both consultation and imaging in one location, streamlining care and reducing delays in diagnosis and treatment planning.
These expanded services represent a step forward in advanced, community-based health care, bringing advanced diagnostics and procedures directly to the neighborhoods UPMC St. Margaret serves in one convenient location.
