WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – UPMC Susquehanna will welcome Don Owrey, F.A.C.H.E., as chief operating officer of UPMC Susquehanna and president of UPMC Williamsport Regional Medical Center, Sept. 1, 2019.
With nearly 30 years of health care experience, Don brings a wealth of expertise leading regional health care strategy. He currently serves as president of UPMC Horizon and UPMC Jameson. Prior to joining UPMC Horizon as vice president of Clinical Support Services in 2008, Don served as executive director for UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics. During his time with Children’s, he oversaw the expansion of one of the largest pediatric medical practices in the country.
“Don’s knowledge, years of clinical and operational experience and strategic management skills will support UPMC Susquehanna’s continued growth in the region,” said Steve Johnson, president of UPMC Susquehanna. “Throughout his tenure, Don has achieved impressive results developing regional centers of excellence. He brings tremendous expertise advancing health care delivery and is a great addition to the UPMC Susquehanna leadership team.”
Don has served in several other roles across UPMC, including UPMC Health Plan and UPMC Community Medicine Inc. (CMI) with extensive background leading physician strategy. Don is a graduate of Thiel College, earned an MBA from Robert Morris University, and began his health care career at Blue Cross of Western Pennsylvania.
