WHAT: To support mothers struggling with postpartum depression and their caregivers, UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is hosting the inaugural “Pars for Postpartum Depression” golf outing at Birdsfoot Golf Club in Freeport. Proceeds from the outing will benefit the Postpartum Depression Program at Magee, which helps mothers cope and better understand their symptoms, as well as provide support to spouses and caregivers.

WHY: According to the National Institute of Mental Health, untreated postpartum depression can last for months or years, affecting the mother’s health, interfering with her ability to connect with and care for her baby, and causing the baby to have problems with sleeping, eating and behavior. This condition can affect any woman regardless of age, race, ethnicity or economic status.
WHO: Family, friends and anyone looking to support mothers with postpartum depression.
WHEN: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Sept. 7, 2018
Registration, breakfast and opening remarks will begin at 7:30 a.m.
Tee-off and a putting contest will take place at 9 a.m. An awards dinner will be held after the outing at 3 p.m.
