CRANBERRY, Pa.- UPMC Passavant-Cranberry is celebrating its newly renovated campus and expanded specialty services, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to community health care.
“This beautiful, renovated space — and the many new, expanded services available at our Cranberry campus — are part of our continued commitment to bring local access to life-changing health care for our community,” said Beth Piccione, M.D., president of UPMC Passavant. “UPMC Passavant has re-designed how we provide care to create new access to our advanced specialty services, close to home,” Dr. Piccione added. “Creating this has become our laser focus because it is needed by our patients.”
At an employee and community event on Aug. 22, UPMC Passavant showcased the results of its recently completed First Impressions project at the Cranberry campus, following its successful implementation at UPMC Passavant-McCandless. The transformation includes a modernized lobby and enhanced clinical spaces designed to reflect the exceptional care provided daily.
The $42 million investment across both campuses positions UPMC Passavant as a signature specialty hub and advanced tertiary care destination for Pittsburgh’s northern communities. Newly enhanced services at the Cranberry campus include:
-
Advanced cardiac imaging with a new CT scanner offering 3D imaging for improved diagnostics
-
Behavioral health enhancements with a flexible care transformer room for safer, more efficient treatment
-
Pediatric telehealth connectivity through UPMC Children’s emergency department affiliation
-
Expanded Heart and Vascular Institute clinic footprint, including an advanced heart failure evaluation clinic
-
Full weekday physician coverage at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center site
-
Surgical services in gynecologic oncology, orthopaedics, urology and general surgery
Anthony Savannah, president and CEO of the Passavant Hospital Foundation, emphasized the Foundation’s role in supporting the transformation. “This project reflects our shared vision to elevate care and ensure our community has access to the best possible services,” Savannah said.
Betsy Tedesco, clinical director, UPMC Passavant, shared powerful stories of recent patient care, including the life-saving response to a cardiac emergency involving a staff member and the rapid treatment of a two-year-old child with a severe leg injury.
“These are just a few of the examples of the extraordinary work and partnerships that we experience at UPMC Passavant on a daily basis,” said Tedesco. “Remarkable things happen here every day.”
UPMC Passavant is ranked #20 in Pennsylvania and #3 in the Pittsburgh metro area by U.S. News & World Report, with national recognition in 10 specialty areas. The Cranberry campus’s expansion ensures that advanced specialties previously available only in Pittsburgh are now embedded within the local community.
