New VP of Nursing and Quality Joins UPMC International

PITTSBURGH – Veteran nursing leader Tamra L. Minton, M.B.A., M.S.N., R.N., has been named vice president, UPMC International nursing and quality. Starting this month, Minton will direct the sharing and implementation of health care quality best practices and measurement across UPMC’s overseas operations.

Working with public and private partners in Ireland, Italy, China and Kazakhstan, UPMC is a leader in sharing its advanced clinical practices, technologies and management skills internationally, with a focus on offering world-class care close to home in the countries it serves.  

“I have seen firsthand the exceptional care UPMC provides in western Pennsylvania, and I look forward to playing a role in sharing those abilities with the world,” said Minton, who is assuming the lead quality role from retiring Senior Vice President Cheryl Brill. 

Before returning to her native Morgantown, West Virginia, in 2018 to serve as system senior director at Mon Health Medical Center, Minton was the vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at UPMC East, where she helped to open the hospital in 2012 and develop the UPMC International Training Center based there.

Minton completed her Master of Science in Nursing and Master of Business Administration degrees at Waynesburg University, after receiving her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Alderson Broaddus College. She is a member of the American Organization of Nursing Executives and the American Nurses Association.
