WHAT: UPMC St. Margaret and the St. Margaret Foundation are offering free flu vaccinations to area residents age 65 and older and for individuals with chronic health conditions like asthma, diabetes or heart and lung disease.
Additional free screenings include:
- Cholesterol (includes LDL, HDL, triglycerides)*
- Blood Sugar*
- Blood Pressure
- Bone Density
* 9-hour fast recommended.
Children under the age of 18 will not be vaccinated at this clinic. If you have ever had an allergic reaction to a flu shot, consult with your doctor before receiving the vaccination.
No registration necessary. Parking is free and light refreshments will be served. For more information call 412-784-5163.
WHY: Flu season typically runs from September to February. Studies show that by receiving an annual flu shot you may be up to 60% less likely to need treatment for the flu.
Offering free flu shots to seniors meets significant health needs defined by the 2019 Community Health Needs Assessment conducted by UPMC St. Margaret, including preventive health and wellness, preventive screenings, and senior health.
