PITTSBURGH – UPMC has been named one of the nation’s “Digital Health Most Wired” health systems by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). UPMC is one of only 26 organizations in the country to achieve Level 10 status – the highest recognition.
Among the almost 48,000 facilities evaluated, UPMC distinguished itself by ranking above peers in categories such as analytics and data management, population health, infrastructure and patient engagement. Organizations were evaluated based on their adoption, integration and impact of technologies across healthcare organizations, from early-stage adopters to industry leaders.
To achieve the highest level of recognition, UPMC’s technology, physician and nurse leaders demonstrated how technological advances, including AI, are changing and improving the delivery of world-class health care. UPMC’s advanced use of AI technology includes using ambient AI to streamline clinician efficiency, reduce burnout and enhance patient interaction. AI support is also being leveraged in the diagnosis of stroke, mobile access to CT imaging and reduced time to treatment.

The Digital Health Most Wired survey and recognition program serves as a comprehensive "Digital Health Check-up" for healthcare organizations globally. It reflects the progress of leading health care providers as they look to the future. Each participating organization in the CHIME survey received an overall score, as well as scores for individual levels, in eight segments: infrastructure, security, administrative/supply chain, analytics/data management, interoperability/population health, patient engagement, clinical quality/safety and innovation.
