PITTSBURGH — UPMC has been named both a nationwide top 10 Military Friendly Employer and a Military Spouse Friendly Employer for 2024 for its commitment to serving the military and veteran community — from hiring and career advancement to customer service and charitable investment.
UPMC is being honored for meeting or exceeding standards in critical areas of commitment to the military community including recruiting, hiring and training of veterans and military spouses, and partnering with and supporting veteran-owned businesses.
“UPMC is honored with this designation and proud to be recognized as a company that truly cares about the service and sacrifices of the entire military community,” said John Galley, senior vice president and chief human resources officer at UPMC.
More than 1,600 UPMC employees self-identify as veterans. From senior level executives to entry level staff, these heroes play important roles in every area across all divisions and UPMC locations. UPMC leads the state in placement of active-duty service members in Department of Defense SkillBridge internships, with approximately 50 appointments in 2023.
As a Military Friendly employer, UPMC succeeds in helping veterans and other members of the military community make the transition from the military to satisfying employment in the civilian world.
