PITTSBURGH — UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh has opened a new UPMC Children’s Express Care location at its main hospital, providing families with greater access to convenient, same-day pediatric care for minor illnesses and injuries.
Located on the first floor near the hospital’s main lobby, the new UPMC Children’s Express Care features a space with nine exam rooms and a spacious, colorful waiting area designed with children and families in mind. The location also offers expanded hours to make care more accessible after school, in the evenings and throughout the weekend.
The new hours are:
• Monday through Friday, 1 to 9 p.m.
• Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The new location is part of UPMC Children’s continued efforts to make high-quality pediatric care easier for families to access when their regular pediatrician may not be available. UPMC Children’s Express Care provides families with an option for timely evaluation and treatment of minor illnesses and injuries that do not require the level of care available in the Emergency Department. Children and teens can receive care for a wide range of common conditions, including colds, fever and flu, ear and throat infections, asthma and wheezing, nausea and vomiting, rashes, minor cuts and scrapes, and simple fractures, sprains and strains.
“Parents need convenient care when their regular pediatrician is unavailable and their child becomes sick or injured, particularly during the evening and on weekends,” said Alejandro Hoberman, MD, president, UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics. “By expanding our hours at our hospital-based Express Care clinic, we can provide more families with timely access to after-hours pediatric care while helping ensure children are seen in the setting that best meets their needs.”

UPMC Children’s also offers access to 11 other Express Care locations throughout western and central Pennsylvania, extending convenient pediatric care to families closer to home.
