WHAT: The UPMC Center for Sports Medicine will continue its tradition of offering pre-race preparation courses by holding the first of multiple Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon seminars. The event is scheduled before and after the Half Marathon Kick-off Training Run hosted by the local running club, Steel City Road Runners.
WHY: Free informational session with medical, training and equipment experts. Runners/attendees are encouraged to register at https://runsignup.com/Race/PA/Pittsburgh/HalfMarathonKickoffTrainingRun.
WHO:
- Vonda Wright, M.D., director of the Performance and Research Initiative for Masters Athletes at UPMC, will provide training on dynamic warm-ups.
- UPMC Sports Medicine Specialists will conduct roaming fitness sessions including foam rolling, stretching, resistance bands, plyometrics and nutrition.
WHEN: 7 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 6
