WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) has recognized UPMC Williamsport through its 2025 Excellence in Patient Safety Recognition program. The recognition honors Pennsylvania’s top-performing hospitals, like UPMC Williamsport, that have demonstrated low rates of health care-associated infections.
“Being a top-performing hospital is the result of our team’s unwavering focus on patient safety and quality care,” said Patti Jackson-Gehris, market president, UPMC North Central Pa. and president, UPMC Williamsport. “Every physician, nurse, and staff member plays a role in creating a safe environment, and this achievement reflects their hard work and dedication. We are proud to be recognized among the top hospitals in the state and remain committed to continually advancing the care we provide for our patients and community.”
The 2025 Excellence in Patient Safety Recognition program recognized 22 hospitals this year based on their performance during 2024. Top-performing hospitals are identified using data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Healthcare Safety Network. To be recognized, hospitals must perform better than the mean standardized infection ratio in three key measures: central line-associated bloodstream infections, catheter-associated urinary tract infections, and Clostridioides difficile infections.
“A hospital’s top priority is ensuring high-quality, safe care for their communities,” said Nicole Stallings, president and CEO, HAP. “HAP proudly recognizes the Pennsylvania hospital teams that went above and beyond to demonstrate their commitment to continuous quality and safety improvement and achieved exceptional results.”
