WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – UPMC, with the support of community partners, coordinated a free veteran recognition meal distribution on Thursday, Nov. 13, at VFW Post 1, in Williamsport.
“Addressing challenges like food insecurity and veteran care takes more than good intentions, it takes strong partnerships,” said Kari Kurtz, director, Community Relations, UPMC in North Central Pa. “This meal distribution reflects what we can accomplish together, ensuring those who served our country have the support they need. It’s not just about UPMC, it’s about a shared commitment to health, wellness, and gratitude for our veterans and our communities.”
Representatives from the UPMC Community Relations and the Susquehanna Health Foundation teams alongside community partners helped distribute 120 meals and recognition gifts to veterans and their family members. This event was part of a series offered across the region over the past two weeks through which over 240 meals were delivered to veterans, and UPMC’s ongoing efforts to address food insecurity in communities across north central Pennsylvania.
This event was made possible through generous contributions by sponsors to Susquehanna Health Foundation. The meals were prepared and provided by John Ryan Brewery in Williamsport.
