The Ron Yount Compassionate Care Award honors front-line health care workers who have consistently demonstrated kind and genuine care through bedside conversations, honest communication, and shared decision making. These staff have provided hope and a feeling of peace and safety to patients and their families during times of need.
The award was created in memory of Ron Yount, described as a kind, quiet, and humble man. His family wanted to recognize the UPMC Shadyside health care team who provided compassionate care beyond the call of duty during Mr. Yount’s final days in 2015.
