BiographyDr. Sekula is assistant professor of neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and director of the Cranial Nerve Disorders Program at UPMC. A native Pittsburgher, he is known nationally and internationally for his refinement of microvascular techniques, which may provide patients with improved outcomes, reduced complications, and easier recoveries. Dr. Sekula specializes in minimally invasive neurosurgery, with particular interest in trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm, acoustic neuroma, Chiari malformation, tumors of the brainstem and skull base, and degenerative and traumatic spinal disorders. Dr. Sekula received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. Following a surgical internship and residency in neurological surgery, he completed advanced training in minimally invasive neurosurgery and a fellowship with neurosurgical pioneer Dr. Peter Jannetta. Dr. Sekula is board-certified in neurosurgery.
