If you are not ready to take care of a newborn and don’t have anyone to ask for help, there is a place you can take your baby where he or she will be properly cared for. Our Safe Haven program will ensure your baby’s safety and health. All you have to do is bring your newborn (up to 28 days old) to any Pennsylvania hospital and drop him or her off.
You will not be required to answer any questions when you drop off your baby, as long as your baby is unharmed and not a victim of any crime. You will not get into any trouble, no one will judge you, and you will not be required to give your name and address. If you wish, you can provide medical information for your baby.
Your baby will be checked by a physician and given medical care. The agency for children and youth in your county will find a family to take care of your baby. If you change your mind later and want your baby, you must contact your county's agency for children and youth.
If you would like more information, please visit www.secretsafe.org or call 866-921-7233 (SAFE). SecretSafe representatives will help you understand your options and find services in your area before you give birth.
