Michael had surgery after his mild heart attack in 2016. Everything seemed to recover normally, except his kidneys. Suffering serious complications, Michael chose organ transplantation over dialysis. This was a life changing event for Michael and in 2020, he and his wife endowed the Michael J. After an abrupt trip to UPMC Presbyterian to receive a double stent in her heart and losing a dear friend to heart complications, Beth and the Fraternal Order of Eagles felt compelled to give back. As of January 2021, Beth and the FOE have donated more than $101,000 to the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute.
