150 years of leadership in women’s health care in the Catholic tradition
A woman’s body is constantly changing — from her adolescent and child-bearing years to menopause and beyond. UPMC Mercy’s comprehensive services in gynecology and obstetrics are dedicated to meeting women’s health care needs at every stage of life.
As western Pennsylvania’s only Catholic hospital, we are distinctive in our approach to women’s care. UPMC Mercy offers expert medical care that is rooted in our faith’s values and vision.
Whether you want help in natural family planning, seek the right hospital to bring your new baby into the world, or face a challenging medical condition, UPMC Mercy offers personalized care in an environment that recognizes the sacredness of every woman and newborn we serve.
Our board-certified gynecologists specialize in women’s health, with a particular focus on the organs of the reproductive system and breasts. We care for a wide range of needs, including:
Our gynecology services also include expertise in the latest minimally invasive surgical technique such as laparoscopic and robotic surgery, many of which are available on an outpatient basis.
As a mother-to-be at UPMC Mercy, you will receive care that is sensitive to your needs at this very special time of life. Our experienced team of women’s health professionals welcome more than 1,200 newborns into the world every year. Our obstetric services include:
The Midwife Center for Birth and Women’s Health — the nation’s largest freestanding birth center — has selected UPMC Mercy as its primary referral hospital. This service is available to women who prefer to give birth at a hospital or who may need possible medical support during delivery. The Center’s midwives have admitting privileges at UPMC Mercy, and they lead the care for their patients with the support of our doctors and nursing staff.
