Description

Dr. Berlacher’s clinical interests center on women’s heart disease, including pregnancy and heart disease risks.  Under her leadership, the Magee-Womens Heart Program has grown to span several UPMC hospitals serving communities throughout Western Pennsylvania.

She is a nationally recognized leader in novel and emerging medical education techniques, building a diverse and inclusive cardiology workforce and advocating for women’s cardiovascular health. In 2021, Dr. Berlacher was elected vice chair of the Annual Scientific Sessions of the American College of Cardiology for ACC.23 and ACC.24, and chair of the Annual Scientific Sessions for ACC.25 and ACC.26.  Appointment to this leadership role is one of the most prestigious honors in academic cardiology.

Dr. Berlacher received her medical degree from Ohio State University and completed her internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at UPMC. During her cardiology training, she also earned a Master of Science in Medical Education from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
