WHAT: UPMC Mercy and the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh will celebrate World Day of the Sick with a special Mass led by Bishop David A. Zubik. The Mass occurs on the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, and Pope Francis extends a blessing to all those who are ill and the people who care for them.

 

WHY: This year marks the 28th annual World Day of the Sick, a day meant to recognize and honor those who work in health care while praying for the alleviation of human suffering around the world. 

 

WHO:

 

  • The Most Reverend David A. Zubik, Bishop of Pittsburgh.
  • UPMC Mercy patients, visitors, physicians, nurses and other caregivers.

 

WHEN: 12 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14.

 

WHERE: UPMC Mercy, Holy Family Chapel, 1400 Locust St., Building D, first floor.
