PITTSBURGH – UPMC was named one of the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute, a company focused on defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices.UPMC is one of 128 organizations on Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies list, which spans 21 countries and 50 different industries. UPMC and UPMC Health Plan were recognized for a strong foundational commitment to compliance, values-based ethics, risk management, corporate governance programs, corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
The Ethisphere Institute evaluated UPMC as an integrated health care delivery and finance system based on its Ethics Quotient® framework, which offers a quantitative way to assess a company’s performance in an objective and standardized manner. Scores are generated and weighted in five key categories: ethics and compliance program (35 percent), culture of ethics (20 percent), corporate citizenship and responsibility (20 percent), governance (15 percent), and leadership and reputation (10 percent).
