WHAT: University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine graduates, decked out in “Yinz Matched” t-shirts, will tear open envelopes in unison and learn where they will spend the next three to seven years. Match Day occurs on the same day across the nation, so thousands of other medical students will discover their future at the same time.
WHY: Most medical students in the United States, like those at Pitt’s School of Medicine, receive their residency assignments through the National Resident Matching Program, a private, not-for-profit corporation that matches graduating medical students with residency programs across the country.
WHO:
- 138 graduating Pitt medical students and their families and friends
- Pitt School of Medicine faculty and staff
WHEN: Friday, March 15
- 11:30 a.m. – Speech from Joan Harvey, M.D., associate dean for student affairs
- 12 p.m. – Envelope opening
WHERE: Alumni Hall, 4227 Fifth Ave., Pittsburgh, 15261.
