WHAT: This workshop will demonstrate the best way to pack and wear various styles of backpacks, and provide information on how to identify a variety of bug bites and rashes.
 
BACKPACKS: This free, interactive class will cover backpacks used by students, outdoorsmen, business people, moms and more. Bring your own backpack, or watch the demonstrations.
 
BUG BITES AND RASHES: Learn about tick bites, Lyme disease, mosquito bites, recluse spider bites and related diseases. We’ll also cover poison ivy/oak rashes. Learn to identify shingles vs. bug bites or poison ivy.
 
Light refreshments will be served. There is no fee, but registration is required. Register online or call 1-800-533-UPMC.
 
WHY: Backpacks are popular and practical, but can have adverse health effects if packed or worn improperly. It’s important to know how to identify bug bites, rashes and symptoms, and what treatment options are available for each.
