PITTSBURGH – The board of trustees at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation is confirming its newest leaders and members.
Mark A. Snyder, who has been a board member for more than 13 years, is now the Foundation’s new chair. Snyder is the corporate secretary for Snyder Associated Companies, a family owned mineral mining, oil and natural gas and manufacturing business that is headquartered in Kittanning, Pennsylvania.
Vanessa Morehouse, a board member for eight years, is assuming the role of vice chair. Morehouse works with local nonprofits, such as the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, and has co-chaired the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Gala.
“I am thrilled for Mark and Vanessa to take on these new roles for the board and continue their commitment to advancing the Foundation’s mission and goals,” said Rachel Petrucelli, president of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.
In addition, the Foundation is welcoming three new board members: Anantha Shekhar, M.D., Ph.D., Robert A. Pietrandrea and Michael K. Popper.
Shekhar, a nationally recognized educator, researcher and entrepreneur in the fields of medicine and life sciences, serves as senior vice chancellor for the health sciences and John and Gertrude Petersen Dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Pietrandrea is president of Railroad Development Corporation and an expert in railway engineering. He also serves as a director of Iowa Interstate Railroad, director of Ferrocarril Central Andino and vice chairman of The Hawthorne Group.
Popper is the founder and former president of Metalwerks PMD, Inc., a medical alloys business. He recently retired with more than 40 years of experience in the reactive metals industry.
“We look forward to continuing the important work of supporting our patients and families at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh with Anantha, Bob and Mike by our side,” said Petrucelli.
