PITTSBURGHUPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh has opened an Express Care Center clinic at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, providing pediatric care in a family friendly environment.

UPMC Children's Express Care - Cranberry is open evenings and on weekends and staffed by UPMC Children’s board-certified pediatricians who provide specialized treatment and care for minor injuries and illnesses.

“A high percentage of kids are taken to an emergency room for acute conditions like fevers, cuts and influenza,” said Alejandro Hoberman, M.D., president, UPMC Children’s Community Pediatrics. “Of course, there are many situations where an emergency room is essential and the most appropriate course of action. But for mild injuries and illnesses, an adult emergency room could be intimidating for young children and often are not the ideal environment for them.”

“By providing specialized and quick medical treatment outside of normal business hours, UPMC Children’s Express Care supplements the care provided by pediatricians who typically operate with standard office hours,” explained Brian Czervionke, M.D., medical director of UPMC Children’s Express Care – Cranberry. “This option offers both in-person and video visits to families across the northern Pittsburgh communities.”

UPMC Children’s operates seven other Express Care centers in Erie, Lawrenceville, Monroeville, South Fayette, Washington, West Mifflin and Wexford. For on-site visits and to save time, there is the “Save Your Spot” option on the UPMC Children’s app, which allows families to save their spot in line before arriving to the location.
