UPMC Welcomes New Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon to Williamsport

Jesse Torbert, MDWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Jesse Torbert, M.D., orthopaedic trauma surgeon, has joined UPMC Williamsport, a Level II Trauma Center.

Dr. Torbert received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland, Ohio, and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery with University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa. During his residency, Dr. Torbert was awarded a place in the Clinician Scientist Development Program, reserved to a select group of outstanding researchers in the field of orthopaedic surgery. He also completed fellowship training in orthopaedic trauma at R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, Baltimore, Md.

Dr. Torbert is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He also holds a degree in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University School of Engineering, Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Torbert comes to UPMC with over 12 years of experience in trauma care. Prior to joining UPMC, he served eight years as the director of orthopaedic trauma at Level I and Level II trauma centers and most recently held a leadership position in an orthopaedic trauma program in addition to providing orthopaedic surgical care in Connecticut.

Dr. Torbert joins the team of trauma experts at UPMC Williamsport. As a Level II Trauma Center, a trauma surgeon in the hospital 24 hours a day and an operating room (OR) readiness team is on standby around the clock. UPMC Williamsport’s trauma OR is dedicated solely to trauma patients and is equipped with the most advanced tools for delivering high-quality emergency care the moment it is needed. In addition to clinical duties, trauma experts from UPMC also provide community education and outreach through accident awareness and prevention programs such as Stop the Bleed, SLIP - Senior Lifestyle Injury Prevention, as well as car seat and helmet checks.
