WELLSBORO, Pa. – UPMC Wellsboro has been named among an exclusive group of entities in the U.S. to receive the inaugural American Heart Association (AHA) All-Star Award for excellence in delivering CPR training.
As an AHA Training Center, UPMC Wellsboro demonstrates exceptional dedication to the Heart Association’s mission by consistently delivering high-quality CPR education, following ECC Guidelines, and elevating the standard of lifesaving training in the community.
“Our commitment to providing high-quality lifesaving training is an investment in the health and safety of the communities we serve,” said Brad Campbell, paramedic and coordinator, AHA Training Center, UPMC Wellsboro. “Community members who learn CPR can be instrumental in saving the lives of people who experience out-of-hospital cardiac arrests. About 73% of these events happen in residences, with the remainder occurring in public settings and nursing homes. If performed immediately, CPR can double or triple the chance of survival.”
The award selection was based on data gathered from across the AHA system. Criteria included earning an 85% score in three categories: average student survey score, certification card-claim rate, and total surveys submitted.
Through training, UPMC Wellsboro strives to enhance confidence, improve readiness, and empower learners with the skills that save lives. The training center offers the following courses:
