PITTSBURGH, April 22, 2002 — Teresa (Terri) G. Petrick has been named chief executive officer of UPMC Passavant, Jeffrey Romoff, president of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, announced today. Ms. Petrick will succeed Ray Beck, who is leaving UPMC to pursue other opportunities. Her appointment is effective June 1.
"As president of UPMC Passavant, Ms. Petrick will work closely in conjunction with the hospital's medical staff and leadership to further strengthen the already fine clinical services provided to residents of the North Hills area," Mr. Romoff said. "Her many years of hospital experience make her an excellent choice for this position."

"Twenty years of community hospital operations experience, cultivating strong medical staff relationships, and building a team of loyal, empowered employees, has prepared me for this new role."

Petrick has been vice president of care management for UPMC since September 2001. In this capacity she was responsible for the integration and strategic development of care management for all UPMC hospitals. Prior to that she was executive vice president of UPMC McKeesport for 10 years, where she had overall operational responsibility for the hospital. Her prior career in health care included positions as assistant executive director and director of planning at UPMC McKeesport and as a hospital planner at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Petrick is a graduate of the School of Urban and Public Affairs at Carnegie Mellon University where she received a master's in public management. She received her undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a graduate of McKeesport Senior High School.
