WHAT: The UPMC Center for Sports Medicine will continue its tradition of pre-race prep courses by holding the first of multiple Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon seminars, scheduled to follow an organized training run.
WHY: Free informational session with medical, training and equipment experts. Runners/attendees are encouraged to register at http://www.pittsburghmarathon.com/trainingseminar.
WHO:
- Ron DeAngelo, director of sports performance at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on pre-run warm ups to prevent injury.
- UPMC physical therapist Ashley Young on top running injuries
- Dave Spell, coach of Steel City Road Runners Club, on training
- True Runner’s Ian Shreckengast on appropriate shoes and apparel
WHEN: 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 23
WHERE: Ladies Hospital Aid Society (LHAS) Auditorium, UPMC Montefiore; Buffalo Street entrance (off Terrace), also known as 7 Main.
