WHAT: Thanks to monies donated by Fire and Iron Motorcycle Club Station #6, the UPMC Mercy Burn Center will host a picnic for pediatric burn patients at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. Patients and their families can spend the day exploring the zoo on their own or with UPMC staff and/or Fire and Iron Station #6 Club members.
Just prior to lunch, representatives from the Fire and Iron Motorcycle Club Station #6 will present their annual donation to the burn center. The Club is comprised of retired and active duty firefighters who, for the past five years, have raised more than $50,000 to pay for such things as cribs for pediatric burn patients, compression garments that aid in the cosmetic and functional recovery of the patient, and a new aquarium in the UPMC Mercy Burn Center.
