WHAT: The UPMC Center for Integrative Medicine welcomes Drs. Badri Rickhi and John Toews of the Canadian Institute of Natural and Integrative Medicine (CINIM), who developed a spirituality-based program for the treatment of depression in adolescents and young adults. Drs. Rickhi and Toews will share their findings.
WHY: Studies conducted by our speakers showed the benefit of a web- and app-based program called Breathing Room. Addressing concepts such as self-acceptance, gratitude, compassion and forgiveness dramatically improved mood and outlook. This program is being offered as a preventative measure on several college campuses in Canada.
