For stroke victims, every minute counts. UPMC understands the importance of delivering care quickly and efficiently to those who have suffered a stroke.

At the UPMC Stroke Institute — the only Joint Commission-certified stroke center in western Pennsylvania – our experts are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They see more than 1,500 patients each year and provide consultation for hundreds of others through the UPMC Stroke Telemedicine Program.

UPMC's Stroke Telemedicine Program allows more patients located outside of Pittsburgh, Pa. to be treated faster and closer to home. The program uses state-of-the-art videoconferencing technology to link stroke experts to emergency department physicians throughout our network of hospitals.
