Walk with COACH is a free program offered by the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute.
Each Monday and Wednesday at noon, members of the Heart and Vascular Institute’s clinical staff lead one-mile walks around Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood, giving you a chance to take steps toward better health and allow you to connect with others who know what it’s like to be in your shoes.
Walk With COACH is on hiatus until May 2020. Please check back in the Spring for an official start date.
At your first session, you will receive a welcome packet with information about walking for heart health and how to make the most of your walks.
During each session, members of the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute – which may include doctors, nurses, and other clinical staff members – will lead a one-mile walk around Oakland, beginning at UPMC Presbyterian.
Walking route is subject to change based on construction.
The Walk with COACH Program is open to people of all ages and fitness levels.
While walking is safe for most people, it’s always best to talk to your doctor to find out what's right for you.
Participants that are UPMC Health Plan members or UPMC employees are eligible to take part in the Take a Healthy Step (TAHS) initiative.
Participating in four (4) Walk with COACH walks in one calendar month can help you earn up to 25 TAHS credits.
If you are interested in having your participation count for TAHS, please provide your UPMC Health Plan Member ID in the form below. Member IDs collected will only be used for participation in Take a Healthy Step and will not be used for insurance or billing purposes.
