Getting Your Breast Imaging Results

Our experts understand that waiting for breast imaging results can be stressful.

If you are being seen for signs or symptoms of breast disease or for additional evaluation of abnormalities found during your breast cancer screening, your images will be reviewed while you wait and you will receive your results in writing at the time of your imaging appointment.

Routine screening results are usually available within 7-10 days. If you requested prior breast images from a non-UPMC imaging facility to compare with your recent images, our radiologists will wait up to two weeks to receive your previous images before issuing their report.

How Can I Access My Breast Imaging Results?

If your breast imaging results are normal, you will receive a letter in the mail.

If your breast imaging results are abnormal, our staff will call you and help you schedule additional testing as needed.

Your healthcare provider will also receive a copy of your breast imaging test results.

You can access your breast imaging results through your UPMC patient portal. If you have any questions about your results, you can contact your doctor’s office via the portal or by phone.
