The Istituto Mediterraneo per i Trapianti e Terapie ad Alta Specializzazione (ISMETT) in Palermo is a joint public-private partnership between UPMC, the Region of Sicily, and Civico and Cervello hospitals. Its specialists work closely with UPMC’s world-renowned transplantation teams and are supported by advanced diagnostic services, offering patients the most sophisticated therapies available.

The Cell Factory consists of three laboratories dedicated to the production of cells to treat end-stage organ failure. Projects such as these are helping to fuel scientific and medical excellence in southern Italy.
