UPMC is proud to recognize the days, weeks, and months that raise awareness for many key health topics. Every month, we will feature national health observances to encourage education and honor those affected and the loved ones who support them.
For the month of November, UPMC has turned our sign at the U.S. Steel Tower purple in honor of the following:
- Alzheimer’s Awareness Month
- Epilepsy Awareness Month
- Pancreatic Cancer Month
- Premature Baby Awareness Month and Prematurity Day (Nov. 17)
- Transgender Day of Remembrance (Nov. 20)
We would also like to recognize these additional observances in November:
- Light the World in Teal Day – Nov. 1 (teal)
- Diabetes Awareness Day – Nov. 14 (blue)
- Children’s Grief Awareness Day – Nov. 21 (blue)
- Gastric Cancer Awareness Month (periwinkle)
- Lung Cancer Awareness Month (white)
- Stomach Cancer Awareness Month (periwinkle)
Why Purple in November?
UPMC supports and provides health care for all conditions, illnesses, and medical needs. All health observances are important, and although we cannot recognize all of them through the UPMC colors, we work to represent as many as possible through the chosen color.
Non-Health Observances:
On Veterans Day (Nov. 11), our sign will be red, white, and blue to honor and thank our veterans for their service to our country.
