The new center will increase access to cancer specialists, cutting-edge research in immunotherapy, more than 300 leading-edge clinical trials, and the most advanced technology for cancer detection and treatment.

New UPMC Kidney Transplant Clinic in Williamsport Evaluates Local Patients

In addition to the UPMC Liver Transplant Clinic capabilities established in 2018, the new kidney evaluation clinic in Williamsport brings the expertise of the UPMC transplant team to the region, and allows patients to be seen and evaluated by the same transplant surgeons and nephrologists they would see in Pittsburgh.

Support for the Little League World Series

Parade in street

For more than two decades, UPMC in the Susquehanna region has partnered with the Little League Baseball World Series to provide a team of medical professionals to care for athletes, coaches, and umpires during the summer games. Our medical teams prepare months in advance with strategic planning meetings, health reports, and medical supply inventories.

We were also proud participants in the 2019 Grand Slam Parade, which welcomed 16 Little League teams and visitors from all over the world who came to Williamsport for the Little League World Series.

Reducing Food Insecurity

Volunteers gardening

In Williamsport, UPMC's LifeCenter, the River Valley YMCA, along with several individuals and organizations, partnered with the Salvation Army to grow a Red Shield Community Garden. Fresh produce from the garden is donated to help feed local families, and to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank to reduce food insecurity across the area.

Empowering Communities with Stop the Bleed Training

UPMC is training community members to respond quickly in a crisis by teaching people steps to control serious bleeding.

Encouraging Workplace Wellness

The Healthy Partners program works with employers and employees to improve wellness at the workplace, encourage a healthy lifestyle, and help to reduce health care costs.

In 2019, UPMC in the Susquehanna region launched Age Well, a program that provides seniors with access to informational and social activities, such as health screenings, wellness events, and discussions with local medical experts about a range of senior health topics.
