National Recognition

UPMC nurses are recognized for their specialized knowledge, accomplishments, and dedication to the nursing profession. Their work is the backbone that supports our culture of excellence and often receives local and national recognition.

Each year, UPMC celebrates our nurses’ accomplishments in the Nursing Annual Report. Our current report recognizes our nurses who received awards and accolades during calendar year 2010-2011.

This year, our nurses continue be honored for their exceptional work.

Highlights

UPMC St. Margaret, UPMC Shadyside, and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC have achieved Magnet™ designation, the highest national recognition for nursing excellence and leadership, from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This designation, received by 6.8 percent of hospitals nationwide, is evidence that these hospitals demonstrate commitment to excellence in every aspect of nursing care and leadership.
