UPMC Renames Three Central Pa. Hospitals

HARRISBURG, Pa. – UPMC announced the renaming of three of its hospitals in central Pennsylvania. UPMC Pinnacle Community Osteopathic, Harrisburg and West Shore are now UPMC Community Osteopathic, UPMC Harrisburg and UPMC West Shore, effective May 24. With this change, new signage has been installed at these UPMC campuses to unify and improve wayfinding for patients and visitors.

The naming and signage are part of UPMC’s commitment to ensuring top-quality care and the best patient experience are offered in central Pennsylvania. Overall, UPMC has invested more than $690 million in upgraded technology, facilities and infrastructure and more than $120 million each year in IRS-defined community benefits, which are free programs and services and free or reduced-cost care, in central Pa. since the affiliation in 2017. 

“UPMC Pinnacle has experienced astounding growth in advanced clinical services and facility expansion since merging into the UPMC network three years ago. We’ve added increased access to clinical trials in cancer, new technologies for surgery and diagnostics, opened new locations and inpatient units, and much more,” said Philip Guarneschelli, president, UPMC Central Pa. Region. “The new naming and signage are the next step in our transition to simplify and unify our position as the provider of the most advanced care in central Pennsylvania.”

As part of the updated naming and signage project, the hospital campuses also received new wayfinding. Hospital maps are found on each hospital’s webpage on UPMC.com.

The My PinnacleHealth patient portal also has a new name, UPMC Central Pa. Portal, which gives patients convenient and flexible access to their health information and empowers them to manage their health. No action is needed for current patient portal users. New users are encouraged to sign up at UPMC.com/CentralPaPortal.
