WHAT: UPMC Mercy is hosting its 7th annual Wheelchair Wash and Tune-Up event. Volunteers from the UPMC Rehabilitation Institute and local vendors will be onsite to wash and perform minor repairs, as well as evaluate potential problems with the wheelchairs.
 
WHY: Wheelchair maintenance is important to ensure the safety of wheelchair users. Event attendees can participate in a free wheelchair-skills clinic obstacle course and visit a special display of the Tankchair®, a motorized chair designed for navigating the outdoors. The AbleGamers charity also will be displaying the work they do to provide custom gaming setups for people with disabilities.

• Gold medal-winning Paralympian and wheelchair rugby player Mark Zupan.
• UPMC Rehabilitation Institute volunteers and staff.
