The physiatrist

Their main goal is to help you through any physical limits after an illness or injury that impacts your daily life.

Many of our physiatrists have credentials and special training in:

The rehab nurse

Your rehab nurse makes sure we meet your day-to-day needs. As such, they're the team members you'll see the most.

Rehab nurses will also help:

  • You apply what you're learning in rehab to your daily activities.
  • You put all of the pieces of your care together.
  • Your family and friends get involved in your care and know what to expect once you're home.

The physical therapist (PT)

PTs work with you to improve function and mobility.

To help you be as independent as possible, PTs use:

  • Therapeutic exercise.
  • Mobility aids and advanced equipment.
  • Pain relief techniques.

The speech-language pathologist (SLP)

SLPs help you communicate better by retraining functions like:

  • Memory.
  • Attention span.
  • Language.

The occupational therapist (OT)

OTs work closely with you to regain daily skills, such as:

  • Eating.
  • Getting dressed.
  • Cooking a meal.

OTs may also provide you with creative assistive devices and solutions, such as:

  • Orthotics.
  • Tools that help you grab or reach for items.
  • Splints.
  • New methods to help you do routine tasks.

Family and friends

Family members and friends also play a vital role on your care team.

They'll learn how to:

  • Help you during the recovery process.
  • Make it easier for you to come home.
  • Help you live as safely and freely as possible.
